Images for commercial or editorial use

All photographs featured on this web site are available for advertising, design and editoria use, or as fine-art photographic prints.

Please note that images presented here are illustrations of the actual colour transparencies or digital images. If your monitor is not properly calibrated, images you see on branimirphoto.ca may appear altered. Original images chosen for display on this Web site are of excellent quality and sharpness.

You can choose between two options:

comping / browsing format for layout purposes (72 ppi, medium compressed JPEG) - just download the image(s) if you would like to try them out for the project of your choice. Free of charge.

reproduction format - high resolution digital files for your finished project. Original 35 mm slides might be available for special projects, with additional charge. Please inquire for details.

Requested images will be delivered as digital files burned on a CD-ROM, or electronically (see Delivery media below). Guidelines and criteria for the submission of digital images follow the Universal Photographic Digital Imaging Guidelines by UPDIG Working Group, and the Code of Practice set by Digital Imaging Group of the Association of Photographers .

Image selection

If you are interested in a particular image, please record the image title, and if possible, where you saw it (web site section). Pop-up windows with large images featured in the stock photography section contain "Request this image" link, which will automatically put image ID number in the subject of your e-mail message. This feature is for your convenience only; you can easily change the subject line. If you would like a print of the image, go to the Print orders page to learn more about ordering prints.

Image licensing fee

There are many factors that determine the image licensing fee: publication type (media in which the image will appear), size of reproduction (full page, 1/2 page, 1/4 page), position (cover page, inside), quantity of distribution (circulation, press run), and territory of distribution. Licensing fee quotation is usually given for a one-time, non-exclusive publication rights, unless you request otherwise. Please contact us with description of your specific requirements. Discount may be granted for multiple use or large volume orders. We do not grant free licensing rights solely in exchange for credits or links.

File size and compression

We can provide you with high quality digital files up to 3,600 x 5,000 pixels. This translates to 12x18 inch output at 300 ppi (approximately 16 MB JPEG or 60 MB TIFF). If you need images for Web sites or multi-media presentations, digital files at 72 ppi resolution will be adequate (up to 600 KB in size).

Unless specified otherwise, images will be delivered as maximum quality / minimum compression (Photoshop level 12) JPEG files. TIFF files will be provided upon special request. Please specify whether you need Macintosh or PC bit order.

Colour workspace

High quality images required for printing purposes will be provided in Adobe RGB (1998) colour workspace. We prefer not to scan images in CMYK format without knowing the exact press process and final printing conditions. If needed, a skilled printer can accurately convert and prepare RGB files for CMYK separations. Images featured on branimirphoto.ca were converted to sRGB colour workspace, which is widely accepted (it will correctly display on the Web) but limited in the amount of colour information. If you request images for Web site or a multi-media presentation, they will be provided in sRGB colour space.

No Unsharp Masking will be applied to digital files, unless requested by the user. Caption and copyright information are included in the IPTC format (accessible through Photoshop's "File > File Info" command).

Delivery media

If you request images that are less than 10 MB in size (8x12 inch at 300 ppi, minimum compression JPEG files), they can be delivered electronically. If you choose this option, we will send you an URL address where you can view and download the files. Scanned images that are less than 1 MB in size will be sent as e-mail attachments.

Larger digital files are delivered on a CD-ROM, written to ISO 9600 format as a closed single session. This assures that both Macintosh and PC users are able to access them. You will also receive a "Read Me" file that provides image caption, relevant technical details, information on the colour workspace used, and the amount of unsharp masking if applied. This file also establishes the ownership of the material and provides contact information.

The CD-ROM will be shipped by courier or as a traceable express mail package (overnight or two to three day delivery). Please include your full delivery address and e-mail address with your order (couriers cannot deliver to Post Office boxes). We will inform you by e-mail when the package was sent, and the tracking number if shipped via courier. If for any reason your package should arrive damaged, please contact us immediately.

Pledge of quality

We believe that the product and service you receive will meet, and exceed your expectations. However, if for any reason you feel that there is a problem with your order, please notify us immediately. We will work hard to solve any problems and keep you as a satisfied customer.
